Arrest Made Following Downtown St. Paul Shooting; Suspect Flees on Metro Transit Bus

Authorities in St. Paul are currently probing a shooting incident involving a woman who sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday evening in the downtown area.

St. Paul Police Department received a distress call regarding a shooting near Fifth Street East and Cedar Street shortly before 7 p.m. Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement discovered a woman, believed to be in her mid-20s, suffering from gunshot wounds to her back and leg. She was swiftly taken to Regions Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting may have stemmed from a monetary dispute.

According to information provided by Metro Transit Police to the St. Paul Police Department, the suspected assailant, identified as a man, had boarded a bus to flee the scene. The bus was intercepted near Snelling Avenue South and Grand Avenue.

Upon police intervention, the suspect attempted to evade capture by fleeing on foot. However, law enforcement managed to apprehend him following a brief pursuit. A handgun was recovered from the vicinity of the suspect’s arrest.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
