UK: The Queen Has Been Taken To Hospital For One Night – Northern Ireland Visit Cancelled

According to Buckingham Palace, the Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital after canceling a trip to Northern Ireland.

The 95-year-old was supposed to go on a two-day excursion, but physicians advised her to stay at Windsor Castle for a few days to recuperate.

She was, nevertheless, sent to the hospital for “preliminary investigations.” On Thursday, she returned to Windsor.

At the exclusive King Edward VII’s hospital in central London, the Queen was examined by specialists. Her admission was not thought to be connected to the coronavirus. It was her first overnight visit in a hospital since 2013, when she was treated for gastroenteritis and spent one night in the King Edward VIII.

The medical team assisting Queen has adopted a “cautious approach,” according to a royal insider. They went on to say that the overnight stay was for practical reasons, and that she was doing “light responsibilities” on Thursday afternoon.

She was claimed to be upset that she would not be able to travel to Northern Ireland on Wednesday, but she reluctantly followed her doctors’ advice.

She was scheduled to meet local residents, including students, at Hillsborough, County Down, after the village was renamed Royal Hillsborough during her visit. It is the first hamlet or town to be awarded royal status in Northern Ireland.

On Thursday, the Queen was scheduled to attend a church service in Armagh to commemorate the centennial of Northern Ireland’s creation.

She was photographed for the first time in public using a walking stick at a big public event last week, when she attended a service commemorating the Royal British Legion’s centennial.

She had hosted a big global investment meeting at Windsor Castle on Tuesday evening, when she was described to be bright and cheery, since returning from Balmoral at the beginning of October. Since the death of her husband, Prince Philip, at the age of 99, she has kept a hectic schedule of activities.

“Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen went to hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at midday today, and is in excellent spirits,” a royal official said.
