Soccer Manager Conte Will Take Over as Tottenham Manager after Nuno Sacked

Antonio Conte has agreed to take over as Tottenham Hotspur manager on a contract that will last until June 2023, and he is ready to sign the contract once the final terms are ironed out. He will take over for Nuno Esprito Santo, who was fired on Monday after four months in command and 17 matches.

Conte’s contract with Tottenham was terminated in the summer, but he did not choose another position, and the club’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, has made the former Juventus, Chelsea, and Internazionale manager his top priority.

Spurs were preparing papers to ratify the appointment by Monday afternoon, and Conte traveled to London with his representatives.

Conte is not a fan of taking a position in the middle of a season, but he has stated that he would make an exception for Manchester United if Ole Gunnar Solskjr was fired. Spurs were able to persuade him to accept their offer.

Conte has requested assurances for the upcoming transfer windows in order to rebuild a team that has lost five times in the Premier League this season.

Spurs’ discussions with Conte broke down in June, just when the club felt they were close to a contract. Paratici, who had worked with the manager for three successful seasons at Juventus beginning in 2011, had not been employed at the time, and his presence was important. Conte has been told that he will have greater control over moves and the opportunity to mold the club after initial contact was made on Saturday night.

Conte, who won league titles with Juventus, Chelsea, and Internazionale, departed Inter in May because to the club’s decision to sell players. He has only ever coached a team for more than two years, and his Spurs contract is set to expire in less than that time.

Nuno resigned after a 3-0 home loss to Manchester United on Saturday, during which he was booed by the crowd. After failing to acquire a number of favored candidates like as Conte, Paulo Fonseca, and Gennaro Gattuso, Spurs resorted to Nuno.

The former Wolves manager started the season with three Premier League victories, the first of which came against Manchester City, and was voted manager of the month for August. However, he was fired following thrashings by Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, as well as an insipid style of play. Spurs have gone two hours and sixteen minutes in the Premier League without a shot on goal.

Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, was also a target for supporters’ ire on Saturday, and Paratici spoke with him after the United game before deciding that a change was required. Tottenham is ninth in the Premier League and third in its Europa Conference League group, despite reaching the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching team wanted to win, and I hate that we had to make this decision,” Paratici added. Nuno is a wonderful gentleman who will be welcomed here at any time. We’d want to express our gratitude to him and his coaching team, as well as our best wishes for the future.”

In ten Premier League games, the club has scored nine goals, and Harry Kane, who had wanted to join City in the summer, has looked far from his best.

Nuno took over from José Mourinho when Ryan Mason was appointed interim manager. Nuno’s coaches – Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa, and Antonio Dias – have also quit, according to Spurs.
