NFTs will no longer be included in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, according to developer GSC Game World. The revelation comes after a widely panned statement on Wednesday, and after the studio originally issued and then removed an explanation on Thursday that claimed it would still offer NFTs.
“We’ve decided to cancel everything NFT-related in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 based on the comments we received,” the revised statement states. “The team’s first objective is to protect the interests of our supporters and players. We’re producing this game for you to enjoy, regardless of the price. If you’re concerned, we’re concerned as well.”
GSC Game World said on Wednesday that it will collaborate on digital merchandise for the game with NFT platform DMarket. One of the NFTs it had intended to give would have allowed the owner to become a “metahuman,” thereby turning them into a gaming NPC.
Those plans have now been abandoned. I suppose this explains why the studio’s previous tweet was removed.
