Publisher Krafton said on Wednesday that PUBG: Battlegrounds has transitioned to a free-to-play model and is now available to all gamers for free on PC and consoles. Along with the new Battlegrounds Plus premium account upgrade, Krafton, the publisher of the popular mobile battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India, has released a one-time, non-recurring Battlegrounds Plus premium account upgrade.
Additional G-Coin, a 100% increase in Survival Mastery XP, special in-game goodies, and custom match capabilities with access to the Ranked game mode are all included in the premium upgrade.
The decision to make PUBG: Battlegrounds free-to-play was initially revealed by Krafton on December 9 at The Game Awards 2021, which will take place on January 12. Since its release in 2017, the game has sold over 75 million copies worldwide; it was formerly priced at Rs. 999 in India, but is now accessible for free on Steam.
The game is also playable on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Xbox 360. A $12.99 (approximately Rs. 960) premium account upgrade is required for gamers who want access to extra in-game incentives, as well as Ranked and custom match formats.
Gamers that upgrade to the Battlegrounds Plus premium account will receive an additional 1,300 G-Coin as well as a 100% increase in Survival XP. Players that upgrade their accounts will have access to the Medal tab in career mode, as well as Ranked mode and Custom match features. In-game accessories like as the Captain’s Camo outfit are also available with the Battlegrounds Plus upgrade.
According to Krafton, gamers who purchase PUBG: Battlegrounds will receive a PUBG – Special Commemorative bundle that includes a Battle-Hardened costume skin set, the Shackle and Shanks Legacy Pan, and the Battle-Hardened Legacy nameplate, as well as an immediate upgrade to Battlegrounds Plus.
Krafton also announced the release of PUBG: Battlegrounds Update 15.2, which includes new Tactical Gear such as drones and EMT gear for scouting isolated regions. With a new Action Queue feature, gamers may queue up activities like reloading after shooting a weapon, improving communication and in-game smoothness. According to Krafton, the upgrade to version 15.2 includes revised lessons with a basic training mode, AI training match, and Lobby Tutorial Missions.
