Nintendo Releases Animal Crossing’s 2.0 Update Early

The huge 2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now ready for download, which is surprising given Nintendo’s prior announcement that it would not be accessible until November 5th. This means you’ll be able to try out all of the new features two days ahead of schedule.

In a Nintendo Direct presentation last month, the free 2.0 upgrade was revealed. It comes with a slew of new features, such as new house exterior designs, boat journeys to neighboring islands, greater item storage, a “pro” camera option, the ability to cook using homegrown foods, and more. Brewster’s coffee shop, a noteworthy exclusion from the basic game, is perhaps the most anticipated inclusion.

In addition to the free update, Nintendo announced a $24.99 expansion dubbed Happy Home Paradise, which is still available for pre-load on the eShop as of this writing. The Nintendo Switch Online “expansion pack,” which includes N64 and Sega Genesis titles, will also offer access to the extra paid material, although it is not currently available to customers of that service.

After Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the second best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has sold 33.89 million units as of June 30th.
