New Trailers: The Wheel of Time, The Witcher, Lightyear, Servant, and House Of Gucci

Here are five exciting new trailers that have just been released!

The Wheel Of Time

We’ve gotten a few peeks of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series, but this latest video gives us the beginning of the plot, with Moiraine Damodred of the Aes Sedai attempting to thwart the Dark One. She discovers five people who she believes have the key (or keys) to saving the world (whether they are willing or not). The Wheel of Time, starring Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, and Zoe Robins, premieres on Amazon Prime Video on November 19th with the first episode of its eight-episode season.

The Witcher Season 2

From the second season of The Witcher, we’ve seen a few teasers, sneak peaks, and first-look segments, and now we have a full-length trailer with some delicious hints about what’s next for Geralt of Rivia and company. War with the Nilfgaardian Empire looms, as does the possibility of the “end of days” (which Geralt dismisses), Geralt hunts large creatures, Ciri harnesses her talents, and Jaskier befriends some little rodents (rats? mice? something else entirely?). Season 2 of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, Freya Allen, Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey, Anna Shaffer, and Kim Bodnia, will premiere on Netflix on December 17th.

Lightyear

Finally, a Pixar film that doesn’t initially appear to be tearing parents’ hearts out (honestly, I am still traumatized by Inside Out and Toy Story 3). The background of the “actual” astronaut on whom the Toy Story action figure Buzz Lightyear is based is told in Lightyear. The trailer displays what appears to be a traditional space exploration adventure, complete with aliens and spacecraft, and the hero’s voice is provided by Chris Evans. On June 17th, 2022, the film Lightyear will be released.

House Of Gucci

We now have a second trailer for Lady Gaga’s film on the Gucci family, and everyone looks great and lovely, even if the lead actors’ “Italian” accents are… a bit off? The film House of Gucci is based on the novel by Sara Gay Forden and depicts the narrative of Patrizia Reggiani’s marriage to Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) and her plot to assassinate him. House of Gucci, starring Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, and Salma Hayek, will be released in theaters on November 24th.

Servant Season 3

You can only show me so many lengthy, gloomy, dimly lighted corridors before the ploy becomes tiresome. This program showed potential in its first season (and Lauren Ambrose provides a fantastic performance as Dorothy), but by season three, it defies logic (and is beyond cruel) that Dorothy’s family would continue to keep the truth of what happened to her kid hidden from her. Perhaps they’ll finally do the right thing. However, it appears that the show is now more concerned in the cult from which nanny Leanne (the titular character) fled. Season three of Servant will premiere on Apple Plus TV on January 21st, if you’re still expecting for an M. Night Shyamalan narrative twist.
