Catwoman’s “thing” for stray kittens and the Riddler’s fondness for FaceTime are both shown in a new teaser for The Batman. Robert Pattinson plays Batman, Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman, and Paul Dano plays the Riddler in this grittier take on Batman.
The two-and-a-half-minute teaser, dubbed “The Bat and the Cat,” focuses on Bruce Wayne’s relationship with Selina Kyle, who don’t always appear to get along. In one scenario, Batman is remarking on Catwoman’s — ostensibly alarming — quantity of cats, while in another, the two are wrestling in a dimly lit workplace. By the end of the trailer, the two had teamed together to fight the same evil people.
Not to mention that the Riddler, the most cunning villain in the Batman world, appears to be a FaceTime fanatic – at least when it comes to scaring his foes. A chalky question mark sign appears on Batman’s screen when he receives a call from an unknown contact, with a person who looks to be the Riddler soon approaching the picture. In a different scenario, the Riddler uses a single goggle-covered eyeball to look through his phone’s camera.
The Batman’s action-packed teaser provides us a taste of what’s to come in the film, including thrilling Batmobile chases, a probable romance between Batman and Catwoman, and the Riddler’s odd FaceTime conversations. The Batman was supposed to be released this year, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed until March 4th, 2022.
