Police said that two guys, one of whom had a pistol, robbed two 18-year-old ladies while they were out on foot in Maplewood on Thursday night.

According to Police Chief Jim DeVaul, at at 9:18 p.m., there was a reported robbery near the intersection of Burr Road and Parker Avenue.

According to the police, two males approached the two ladies and demanded their cell phones.

According to authorities, one of the guys brandished a black pistol, presumably a revolver.

After a scuffle, one female victim was knocked to the ground, where her phone was snatched, according to the police. The suspects thereafter fled on Burr Road and got into a waiting black four-door car.

According to authorities, the car was traveling north on Burr Road toward South Orange.

“A black guy between 19 and 20 years of age, slender, with short cut hair and a black COVID mask, [and] a short black male with a medium build wearing a black COVID mask with maybe a zip-up jacket,” was how the police characterized the suspects.

Police said that one of the women received a small elbow abrasion, but neither wanted medical assistance.
