St. Paul police investigate death in Lowertown apartment; man arrested

Investigators from St. Paul’s murder unit are probing into a woman’s early-Friday death in the Lowertown area.

Emergency personnel were summoned to a report of a suicide in progress in the 200 block of Fifth Street East just before 3 a.m. on Friday, according to police.

When they arrived, they discovered a woman who had been shot and was unresponsive and not breathing. According to a press statement from the St. Paul Police Department, fire medics declared her deceased at the site.

Police reported that a 44-year-old male who had been seized and questioned on the spot had later been arrested and jailed on suspicion of murder.

The guy and lady were stated to be acquainted by a department official. There were no new developments in the probe as of Saturday morning.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy before disclosing the woman’s identify and precise cause of death.
