Shooting victim flees scene and flips car on I-94 in St. Paul

According to police, a man who had been shot many times left the site of the crime in an automobile, crashed, and turned over on Interstate 94 in St. Paul.

Sgt. Michael Ernster of the St. Paul Police Department says:

Officers were alerted to gunfire between occupants of a Dodge Charger and perhaps a silver Ford automobile between Dale and Concordia Streets in the Summit-University area at around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Less than a minute later, near the exit to Fifth Street into downtown, the driver of the Charger collided and overturned his car after driving away from the incident and onto westbound I-94, according to Ernster.

The motorist, a male adult, had been shot many times when officers arrived. He was rushed to Regions Hospital with injuries that may have been fatal.

The other car has not been found by the police. Shell casings were discovered at the shooting location.
