A fundraising effort to assist the one and only abortion clinic in North Dakota relocate a few miles north to Minnesota has amassed more than $500,000 in only two days.
The state’s trigger legislation, which went into effect Friday after the U.S. Supreme Court repealed the right to abortion, requires the Red River Women’s Clinic in Fargo to close its doors in 30 days.
The independent clinic’s owner and operator, Tammi Kromenaker, said on Saturday that she had found a new facility in the nearby town of Moorhead across the river, despite having earlier claimed she was unsure of how she would pay for the change.
By late Saturday afternoon, more than 6,000 contributors had contributed more than $515,000 to a GoFundMe campaign created on Friday to support the changeover. The first target was $20,000
