Merseyside’s Rail Service Will Return to Pre-Covid Timetable, Starting Soon

Merseyrail has stated that from May 2nd, most of the network’s services would resume operating every 15 minutes.

Due to numerous coronavirus limitations and the resulting impact on staffing, train frequency had been reduced.

The operator expressed its delight at being able to provide the new schedule in time for the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Andy Heath, the company’s managing director, thanked customers for their patience in the face of “a very difficult set of circumstances.”

Among the improvements, the Southport line will run every 15 minutes for the length of its run.

Except for Ellesmere Port, all other routes will have trains every 15 minutes between 7:00 and 19:00, with a 30 minute service outside of those hours.

Every day, trains will run every 30 minutes on the Ellesmere Port line, and every 30 minutes on all lines on Sundays.
