During the Maplewood Township Committee Meeting, Essex County will provide a presentation on proposed Valley Street upgrades. Throughout Maplewood and South Orange townships, the project will improve safety and overall operations at 11 junctions.
Essex County got a $3,654,000 funding for the project from the NJTPA’s FY 2020 Local Safety Program, according to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (LSP). Construction and inspection services are among the services covered by the award.
Signal upgrades, pedestrian signal upgrades, curb extensions, pedestrian refuge islands, and lead pedestrian intervals are some of the proposed changes.
In South Orange, a new traffic light will be installed at the junction of Valley Street and First Street.
