The deadline to register to vote in the June primary elections for local and statewide contests, including the fight for one available Maplewood Township Committee seat, is Tuesday.
The Maplewood Township Clerk’s office will be open until 9 p.m. Tuesday (May 17). According to the state, all county offices that handle voter registration must be open late that day as well, although town clerks are exempt.
Aside from congressional and countywide elections, two Maplewood candidates are vying for the Democratic nomination for a seat on the five-member Maplewood Township Committee.
The local Democratic Committee has backed both Deborah Engel and Kurt Kiley in an uncommon move. On June 7, voters will pick one, and in November, that individual will face any other contender for the seat.
