Painters in the Park, a Maplewood Memorial Park Conservancy event, has been postponed due to an anticipated precipitation until late Saturday night.
The revised date is Saturday, May 14 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) (rain date Sunday, May 15).
This is the description: “Join the Maplewood Memorial Park Conservancy for a ‘en plein air’ painting day! Memorial Park will be a riot of spring hues, and the public is invited to come witness for themselves as local painters set up their easels and interpret what they see.”
“It’s a pleasant day to go from artist to artist, say hi, and enjoy the park’s splendor.”
Other activities planned by the Conservancy include the installation of the Flagpole Hill entrance triangle and the commemoration of Frederick Law Olmsted’s 200th birthday, the father of the Olmsted Brothers, one of the park’s designers.
A storm system is expected to deliver rain from Friday through the early hours of Mother’s Day morning, with wind gusts of up to 33 mph on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
When a storm dumped over 2 inches of rain on some of North Jersey’s most susceptible areas two weeks ago, it flooded.
