Following his theft of cash from a fountain at the Mall at Short Hills and subsequent attack of an officer with a bag of change, a Newark man was charged on Tuesday with aggravated assault and resisting arrest, according to the Millburn police.
According to officials, the officer received medical attention for his wounds.
According to the police, on Tuesday, August 9, Millburn Police Officer Seebohm went to the Mall at Short Hills in response to a theft allegation at 4:55 p.m.
They said that Mall Security had informed them that Newark resident Dameon Mosely, 28, had been caught taking coins from the fountain and was already waiting at a bus stop.
According to the authorities, Officer Seebohm found Mosely at the stop.
Police said that after being detained, Mosely shoved Officer Seebohm before hitting him in the head with a bag of coins.
Officer Griffin and Seebohm detained Mosely. He was accused of stealing, trespassing, resisting arrest, serious assault, and crimes involving firearms.
He was brought to the Essex County Detention Center.
According to the authorities, Seebohm received medical attention for his wounds.
