Tuesday in northwest Miami-Dade, a man in a motorized wheelchair sustained serious injuries after being hit by a tractor-trailer that fled the scene, according to authorities.
According to Miami-Dade Police, the incident occurred at the junction of Northwest 7th Avenue and 103rd Street.
The victim’s damaged wheelchair was filmed on the side of the road, surrounded by yellow crime scene tape.
Unidentified, the person was sent to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
The police report that the tractor-trailer driver fled the scene, but investigators recognize the vehicle they are searching for.
The driver had the right-of-way, but the guy in the wheelchair lost control and was struck by the tractor-trailer.
According to the police, it is unlikely that the motorist even recognized he struck anything.
The vehicle was reported as having a white tractor and an MSC-branded yellow container.
At the scene, the victim’s wife requested that the driver return and talk with authorities.
Marta Rojas replied, “Please come forward, I’m not going to seek charges or anything, I just want you to come out and reveal your face.” “Be both a man and a lady.”
The sufferer had surgery on Tuesday night and is still healing.
