On Wednesday, police detained a high school student in Florida’s Treasure Coast region for allegedly making threats and carrying a firearm on campus.
Indian River County School District officials told NBC affiliate WPTV-TV that the incident occurred at Vero Beach High School and that the student had made hurtful statements to another student.
When deputies questioned the teenager, 17, they discovered the handgun in his rucksack.
“You know, where the gun came from, and how he got access to it are still mysteries that our team is working to solve. These were pieces of information that we were still actively seeking to gather “A statement made by Sheriff Eric Flower of Indian River County.
The student has been charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, criminal tampering, and concealed carry of a pistol on school grounds.
This happened after another kid from the school was detained last week for threatening teachers and administrators.
