Hoylake Nursery Found to be Unclean and Unsafe by Ofsted Inspectors

Inspectors have suspended the registration of a daycare when kitchen knives and cleaning materials were stored within reach of youngsters.

After an inspection on March 4, Ofsted assessed Mulberry Tree Holiday Club in Hoylake, Wirral, as “inadequate.”

According to the study, “children’s health was jeopardized” at the “unclean” nursery, where toddlers “played on and ate off dirty rugs.”

The nursery has filed an appeal, arguing that the report is inaccurate.

The Bertram Drive center, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, offers full-day care for 35 children aged three to four.

Inspectors found the buildings and equipment to be filthy, and “rubbish bins in hallways near the youngsters were overflowing,” according to the report.

The examination also discovered “very hot” radiators, trailing cables, and abandoned and damaged equipment, as well as huge kitchen knives, sharp vegetable peelers, and cleaning chemicals left within children’s reach.

External water leaks also exposed youngsters to “substantial moisture” in the facility, according to the assessment.

It went on to say that the nursery’s youngsters did not “learn how to keep themselves safe,” claiming that they frequently raced inside and jumped and climbed on furniture, creating a “chaotic and dangerous atmosphere.”

It also claimed that children lacked privacy for personal hygiene and that both leaders and employees misunderstood the fire risk assessment.

Inspectors discovered, however, that the children had positive relationships with their key person at the daycare and had made acceptable communication growth, and that the staff had adequate knowledge and awareness of safeguarding.

The nursery’s management stated they will file an appeal against the report since it contained “a lot of factual mistakes and incorrect assertions.”

They promised to “correct the situation as quickly as possible,” adding that they would not “let this blunder defeat us.”
