High-Speed Crash Left Hallandale Man Critically Hurt, Hollywood Driver Facing 10 Charges

According to court documents, two drivers were involved in a high-speed crash in West Park, which left one driver in critical condition while the other was arrested on 10 counts.

According to the arrest record, Clayan Renaldo Millwood, 35, was caught driving 72 mph in a 35 mph zone about 5 a.m. on June 6.

The driver of a 2006 BMW 325i, Gerald Fortere, 49, was gravely injured after his 2009 Acura MDX jumped a red light in the 2900 block of westbound Hallandale Beach Boulevard just west of Interstate 95, according to the report.

In the SUV with Millwood were a girlfriend and his unrestrained 3-year-old kid. With just minor wounds, the three were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, Fortere was rushed to the same hospital with injuries that were life-threatening.

Cannabis, according to the investigators, was located in the SUV, and they determined Millwood was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and an out-of-date license plate.

The Acura was shown on surveillance footage from the Elegant Beauty Superstore zooming past just before collision.

Detectives claim that after questioning Millwood acknowledged to speeding, running a red light, having a suspended license, driving without insurance, having a phony license plate, and forgetting to buckle up his child in the car.

On September 24, Millwood was detained on suspicion of many traffic violations, child abuse, cannabis possession, and reckless driving causing serious harm.

According to documents, he is still being held in the Broward County Jail on $100,000 in bonds.
