A complete fire ban is in effect in Fremont County until Thursday, September 8.
“A complete fire ban is in force for Fremont County due to high temperatures, anticipated winds, a large fire currently burning in Island Park, and the lack of available firefighting resources,” Fremont County Emergency Manager Keith Richey said in a press release.
During the prohibition, campfires, propane fire pits, and charcoal barbecues are not allowed.
Since Wednesday, crews have been working to put out the Sawtell Peak Fire in Island Park. As of Friday morning, around 45 acres have burnt, and the fire is 0% controlled.
Due to the dry weather in August, county commissioners earlier imposed a ban on pyrotechnics and open fires.
