After being closed for many hours due to a deadly accident, I-75 southbound has reopened as of Thursday afternoon.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle collision happened at 8:24 a.m. on I-75 southbound near Bruce B. Downs Boulevard (FHP).
According to authorities, an SUV lost control and slammed with a flatbed truck in the highway’s inside lanes.
According to FHP, both cars were moved to the right side of the road where they struck a sedan and another SUV before rotating to the median.
The two commercial trucks carrying mobile homes were parked along the outer shoulder and merging lane heading from Bruce B. Downs when the sedan and flatbed tractor trailer proceeded to the right shoulder, according to FHP.
Officials said that one of the drivers, a 26-year-old man from Shreve, Ohio, who was standing outside of one of the mobile home transport business trucks, was hit and killed as a consequence.
According to FHP, numerous occupants of the affected cars had non-life-threatening injuries and were sent to nearby hospitals.
