Ex-Principal Pleads Guilty In Underage Prostitution Sting

An ex-South Metro principal has admitted to one count of prostitution involving a client who was allegedly between the ages of 13 and 16.

Authorities said that Mohamed Ali Selim, 38, was apprehended in a prostitution operation in May.

At the time of his arrest, Selim served as the middle school’s principal. The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District includes Eagle Ridge Middle School.

Selim will spend 30 days in a workhouse and another 30 days in a “sent to service” program as part of the plea bargain. He was given four days of time off for his service.

Selim’s internet activity will also be monitored, and he is prohibited from speaking to children while on probation. Selim may spend up to three years in jail if he disobeys the terms of his probation.

Investigators said that throughout the investigation, undercover cops posted advertisements for prostitution online. According to the criminal complaint, Selim texted an undercover police officer who was pretending to be a 15-year-old girl, stating he “would love to come visit her.”

According to the prosecution, Selim first indicated that since the girl was 15, “it wasn’t going to work,” but then added that he would still go visit her so they could “spend some time together.”

According to the investigators, Selim accidentally informed the undercover cop that he had arrived at the St. Louis Park location. He was immediately taken into custody and, according to the police, said that his life and career were gone.

Messages and conversations between Selim and the undercover cop were discovered on Selim’s phone, and officers also discovered more than $200 in cash on Selim, according to the prosecution.
