During Struggle after Red Wing car crash, Deputy shot man

Authorities are investigating a Tuesday police use-of-force incident in Red Wing, Minnesota, in which a man was shot.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, a Goodhue County sheriff’s officer was investigating a single-vehicle accident near Red Wing’s Bay Point Park.

A guy thought to be the car’s driver was confronted by the deputy. In the midst of a scuffle, the deputy shot the guy. He was receiving treatment at a nearby hospital and was anticipated to recover. The deputy received minor injuries as well.

The BCA said that its investigation is in its preliminary stages and that no officer-worn camera or squad vehicle video footage of the event exists.
