Crash That Critically Injured 8-Year-Old Investigated by Fort Lauderdale Police

An 8-year-old child has been struck by a car that was, itself, engaged in a multi-vehicle incident in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale Police said the collision occurred Wednesday afternoon in the vicinity of Northwest 19th Street and 21st Avenue.

On Thursday, crossing guards were present and roadway and sidewalk markings remained at the location where the youngster was hit by an errant car.
A witness who did not want to be recognized said, “I saw the child on the floor.” “His hips and arm were screwed up.”

The collision was seen on CCTV from a nearby grocery shop. The owner did not want to disclose the tape, but NBC 6 was permitted to see it.

The footage showed an automobile traveling northbound on 23rd Street Northwest. The vehicle loses control, crosses into southbound lanes, and then collides with the 8-year-old child, dragging him across the roadway.
The witness said, “So many accidents occur at this crossroads, particularly at that light.”

Two other vehicles were involved in the collision. Chopper 6 footage revealed that the collision left a red automobile, a post office vehicle, and a Dodge Challenger severely damaged.

The police have said that they are investigating the video evidence. As of Thursday afternoon, no charges have been filed.
