The volleyball squad from Concordia St. Paul has made it to the championship round of NCAA Division II.
To keep their hopes of winning a record 10th national title alive, the top-seeded Golden Bears swept the eighth-seeded Southern New Hampshire team, 25-19, 25-23, 25-11, late Thursday in Seattle.
On Friday (December 2) at 8:30 p.m. Central Standard Time, Concordia (30-5) will take on No. 4 seed Cal State Los Angeles (25-6). The game will take place at Royal Brougham Pavilion on the Seattle Pacific University campus. The victor advances to the title game on Saturday at 5 p.m. CST.
Against Southern New Hampshire, Katie Mattson led the Golden Bears with 14 kills, six blocks, and a.458 hitting percentage (19-8). Ellie Sieling had the most digs (11) and Teagan Starkey had the most assists (42).
Emma Schmidt contributed 9 kills and 5 digs, while Jasmine Mulvihill produced 10 kills, 8 digs, and 3 blocks. Three of Concordia’s five aces came off the serve of Payton Stier.
The Golden Bears’ record in NCAA tournament games moved to 77-9, including an 11-1 mark in quarterfinal games. The Golden Bears have won 30 of 32 Elite Eight games, including 28 in a row going back to 2006.
