Police looking for a swimmer who vanished off the coast of Wirral have discovered a corpse.
On Tuesday night off the coast of New Brighton, Haydn Griffiths, 23, was last seen swimming toward some windmills.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency paused its comprehensive search of Liverpool Bay, Leasowe Bay, and the River Mersey on Wednesday.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said that a man’s corpse had been discovered on Sunday evening.
She stated that the death was “being classified as unexplained” and that the corpse had “yet to be properly recognized.”
She continued, “A post-mortem investigation will be performed to determine the cause.
