Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck by Green Line Train in St. Paul

A biker was killed by a light-rail train in St. Paul on Wednesday.

According to Laura Baenen, a Metro Transit spokesperson, incident happened around 10:30 a.m. near the pedestrian crossing at the east end of the Raymond Avenue station. A man riding a bicycle collided with a westbound Green Line train.

The incident is being investigated by Metro Transit police, and the agency’s CCTV system “may potentially help in identifying what happened,” according to Baenen.

After the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office confirms the bicyclist’s identification, his name will be publicized.

Before service was restored, trains were diverted via the region on the other track.
