While the investigation into a killing in St. Paul continues, a woman detained in the case was freed from jail this week.
Bernadette D. Draughn, 49, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday. She has not been prosecuted, and police say they are still investigating Leonardo Bedell’s death.
Officers were rushed to the Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood just before 7 p.m. Friday after someone phoned police and requested them to check on Bedell’s wellbeing. Bedell was discovered shot in his senior living unit on the 700 block of East Seventh Street.
He was pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.
