Antisemitic and Racist Graffiti Spray Painted in Weston Neighborhood

After racist and antisemitic graffiti was spray painted in the same Weston neighborhood for the second time in less than a month, the locals are looking for an explanation.

Democratic state representative Robin Bartleman shared images of the horrific messages on social media, and her district includes the Weston Hills area where the graffiti was discovered.

A swastika was spray painted on an electrical box, a sign into the neighborhood, a speed restriction sign, and another sign.

It’s terrible. People in this day and age ought to know better, a local added.

Additionally, offensive words for the Jewish and Black communities were spray painted.

“This hate has to be strongly condemned. In a statement published on Sunday, U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz urged all of Florida’s political leaders to publicly denounce this perilous language. “All Americans may really love, study, and practice their religion freely and without fear only when we stand together and openly denounce the perpetrators of these vile crimes.”

During the Yom Kippur holiday on October 5, graffiti was discovered on a walkway in the same area.

The graffiti was discovered close to Hunter’s Pointe on the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, according to Weston Mayor Margaret Brown.

In a message posted on social media, Brown added that “no one, regardless of their faith, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or background, should ever wake up to witness their neighborhood desecrated.” “Any type of antisemitism is not acceptable here.”

Weston neighbors fear that when they awaken on Monday, there may be more hateful and prejudiced letters waiting for them. To address concerns regarding the inquiry, the city will host a news conference on Monday.

“Intimidation that is antisemitic or racist will not be accepted in our community. These crimes are hate crimes and serve as a stark reminder of a time in history when Jews and Blacks were brutally attacked and killed without justification, according to Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony.

Both instances are under investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Calling Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS is the best way for anyone with information to come forward.
