After Jogger Struck In Maplewood, Driver Receives Summons

According to Police Chief Jim DeVaul, the driver of the vehicle that struck the jogger at the junction in Maplewood on Friday night will receive a ticket. The victim, who is 20 years old, is now receiving treatment for critical wounds.

On Friday night, police had informed locals through Nixle: “Pedestrian involved in a car collision near Boyden Avenue and Menzel Avenue. First Aid and police are present.”

DeVaul reported on Monday that a 20-year-old male was crossing Menzel Avenue in the crosswalk while jogging up Boyden Avenue to the north. DeVaul said that the moment a vehicle turning right onto Menzel hit him.

The driver, he claimed, was at fault and would receive a summons for the breaches even though he stayed at the scene.

The jogger was transferred to University Hospital with “severe but not life-threatening injuries,” according to DeVaul.
