18-Year-Old Killed by Exploding Firework in Brooklyn Park

Police said that an 18-year-old man passed away early on Monday after a firework burst in Brooklyn Park in his face.

Around 1:30 in the morning, police were summoned to a park in the 9800 block of Fallgold Parkway North. According to a news statement from the Brooklyn Park Police Department, when they arrived, they discovered the 18-year-old guy with serious injuries to his hands and face. They stated a buddy was doing CPR.

The man’s life was also attempted to be saved by members of the Brooklyn Park Fire Department and North Ambulance Paramedics. He was taken to Robbinsdale’s North Memorial Hospital, where he was later declared dead.

Despite the rarity of fireworks-related deaths in Minnesota, an Apple Valley man passed away in 2021 after being struck by a firecracker. Prior to then, the state’s previous death associated with fireworks occurred in 2015.

There were 17 fireworks-related injuries in Minnesota in 2021, compared to 78 injuries in 2020.

Nine individuals nationwide passed away from injuries caused by pyrotechnics last year.
