Amazon Studios is Reportedly Exploring a Mass Effect TV Show

According to Deadline, Amazon isn’t counting on its newly released Wheel of Time series and future Lord of the Rings miniseries to attract sci-fi/fantasy audiences. Amazon is “nearing a deal to make a series” based on the Mass Effect games, according to the entertainment news source.

While neither Electronic Arts nor BioWare have officially confirmed a series, there have been several clues. Earlier this year, the project director for EA’s remastered Mass Effect: Legendary Edition trilogy set told Business Insider that a movie or TV show project based on the game is “not a matter of if, but when.”

In February, Henry Cavill shared an intriguing Instagram picture, suggesting that he would like to add male Commander Shepard to his nerdy portfolio, alongside Superman and Geralt from The Witcher. The actor teased a “secret project?” with an easily deblurred picture, which internet sleuths deduced was merely a printout of the Mass Effect 3 Wikipedia article.

Any further information, such as how this would tie up with a future game in the series, remain unknown, even if some individuals — such as this extremely creative wiki editor — have already cast their fan cast in their heads. W Well, one safe assumption I can make is that it won’t be based on Mass Effect: Andromeda.
