Mahindra XUV900 Review – The Gold Standard in Luxury SUVs Is Finally Here

The Mahindra line up of SUVs, and other cars, has been a staple in the Indian market for decades now. The manufacturers behind Mahindra cars have firmly established themselves as one of the premium choices for navigating the road, and with the dawn of 2022, have brought us news of their capstone XUV900 model.

Previewed all the way back in 2016, the XUV900 has been shrouded in mystery since its inception. Whilst the XUV300 and XUV700 models have been selling at a rampant pace in the Indian market, very little information has been shared about the previewed XUV900.
Today is no different, with one small exception. Whilst specific details of the XUV900 haven’t yet been shared, enough information has been announced alongside a tentative release window for the upcoming model.

Mahindra expect the XUV900 to be released in India between 2023 to 2024, and have shared some key information about the model that will help us paint a picture of what to expect.

Today we’ll be diving into the information we know, and exploring the XUV900 before its looming release.

Mahindra XUV900 – A Choice of Luxury

The Mahindra XUV900 is the final model in the XUV line up of SUVs produced by Mahindra, and stands as the more luxury option out of the three models. Whilst both the XUV300 and XUV700 have their own luxury as well, the XUV900 forgoes mechanical upgrades to bring drivers a truly next level driving experience.

Mahindra have detailed, in a recent announcement panel, that the XUV900 model will mirror much of the same technical specifications as the XUV700. This is a good sign, as the XUV700 is already an impressive framework for an SUV, and any additional mechanical engineering would only prove to inflate the price, for very little consumer gain.

Mahindra XUV900 – The Foundational Changes

The engineers at Mahindra, however, were quick to point out that whilst the XUV900 will mirror much of the XUV700’s internal design, that does not mean it won’t come with a batch of mechanical improvements.

The most important aspect of the XUV900, however, is its interior and exterior build quality. Whilst final chassis haven’t been confirmed, the design for the XUV900 appears to mirror a more sleek, comfortable, and spacious seven seat SUV design.

The interior design has also been completely remodelled. With modern comfortable leather, and all of the technical support that we’ve come to expect from Mahindra brand SUVs.

The Mechanical Specifications of The XUV900

As discussed above, nobody yet knows the exact technical specifications of the XUV900. These will likely be available closer to its official release, likely as a marketing ploy to drum up hype as its about to hit the Indian market.

However, the engineers at Mahindra did point out that the XUV900’s mechanical design will mirror, or improve on, the XUV700 model.

Mahindra XUV900 – The EV Discussion

Between the initial showcase of the Mahindra XUV900 in 2016, and 2022, a huge shift in public opinion has occurred when it comes to electric vehicles.

With many countries around the world shifting to an EV-only policy, such as Europe’s recent policy changes, the US’ push towards a more diverse EV market, and the rise of Tesla vehicles, consumers are looking for more EV SUV options.

With the official announcement of the XUV900, discussions immediately arose around it being Mahindra’s EV solution for the XUV line up.

The truth is: The XUV900 will not be an EV vehicle, as stated by Mahindra. However, market professionals estimate that this will be the final diesel XUV model. With future XUV, or other Mahindra SUVs, shifting more towards EV options.

Mahindra XUV900 – The Price

The exact price of the XUV900 has not yet been announced, however enough information has been shared that we can make an accurate prediction.

With the most expensive XUV SUV, the XUV700, currently sitting at 15,490,00.00 Indian Rupee, the beginning price point for the XUV900 is expected to begin at 16,000,00.00 Indian Rupee.

Whilst we don’t know the extras, and different package deals that will be available for the XUV900, we are unable to predict the price band for the XUV900 right now. However, consumers should expect the XUV900 to be the most expensive SUV in the Mahindra XUV line up.

Should You Buy the Mahindra XUV900?

Like all Mahindra XUV models, the XUV900 provides unapparelled value compared to many other SUV models on the market, especially in the Indian market. However, what if you’ve already got a XUV300 or XUV700 model, does the XUV900 offer enough of an upgrade to consider it?

The answer to this question all comes down to your desires as a consumer. If you are eagerly looking for a more luxury SUV, with a range of mechanical improvements over the XUV300 and XUV700, then the XUV900 provides you with a neat solution to that problem.

However, if you’re happy with your XUV300 or XUV700, and are not all that interested in an interior and exterior overhaul of your SUV, then the XUV900 may not be worth the investment. Especially if you plan to pivot towards an EV model in the near future.

Mahindra’s XUV900 is Mere Months Away, Are You Excited?

The Mahindra XUV line up as always been a range of cars that have no shortage of value. Now with the XUV900 on the horizon, many people are excited to step into a true luxury option in the Indian market.

Regardless if you’re looking for an SUV that performs well on rough roads, or just something to take your family on a comfortable road trip, the XUV900 has it all. Providing you with unmatched flexibility to tackle any challenge the road might pose to you.

Be the first to line up for the Mahindra XUV900, and take advantage of the future of luxury SUVs in style, coming 2023 or 2024!
