Maplewood business setting interior design trend


Aundrea Kinney photos/Review • Steve Cody, owner of LuxNova Stone, opened his Maplewood showroom July 2017 to display thinly sliced stone, which can be used for any number of home or business design projects. Because the stone is sliced so thin, it is lightweight and often can be backlit with white or colored light.

For about six months, Maplewood has been home to LuxNova Stone, a company which, according to the owner, is at the forefront of the stonework and home design industries.

Oak Grove group says Hispanic immigration heat has made life in New Brighton harder


Solomon Gustavo photo • At the Oak Grove mobile home park in New Brighton, some residents claim an uptick in immigration law enforcement activity is happening because of a discriminatory tip from a manager of Oak Grove Park Properties. The management company investigated the claim. The manager accused of contacting immigration authorities, Vicki Florio, was cleared of all wrongdoing and her attorney says the discrimination claims are “blatantly false.”

Roseville schools highlight local eats


courtesy of Roseville Area Schools • Roseville Area Schools’ once-monthly “Minnesota Thursday” lunch features food produced and grown within 300 miles of the city. It, along with another program, “Harvest of the Month,” features local, whole foods. Jan. 11’s Minnesota Thursday lunch included a beef hotdog made in Cannon Falls, a bun out of St. Cloud and coleslaw made from cabbage grown in Northfield, among other food.
