If this winter hasn’t convinced you to throw in the towel on the tasks of home ownership, give it some serious thought, then check out Brightondale Senior Campus.

This friendly neighborhood community for residents age 62 and better is located on Silver Lake Road just north of Interstate 694 in the heart of New Brighton.

Its continuum of care includes Meadowood Shores Independent Living, Brightondale Assisted Living and Reflections Memory Care. Brightondale Senior Campus has been owned by SilverCrest Properties for the past 20 years.

Newly renovated

Brightondale Assisted Living and Memory Care underwent major renovations last year, updating many areas of the building including the lobby, dining room, second-floor common space and nursing location.

The most significant change was the expansion of the Reflections Memory Care community with the addition of 16 memory care apartments on the third floor. The third-floor Reflections community is a mirror image of the second floor Reflections Memory Care, with the same individualized care and interactive programming.

Specialized options

Dining at Brightondale is a special event where original culinary creations, along with traditional dishes, provide a variety of meal options. Brightondale’s menu is specially prepared to present not only nutritious, but also delicious meals. At Brightondale, you have choices. Their experienced culinary staff listens to your food preferences and even accommodates special diets and other restrictions. Brightondale is committed to fresh ingredients, scratch cooking and attentive servers.

Transportation is readily available at the campus, too. Whether residents need to go shopping, run errands or go to a Twins game, they find the shuttle service willing to accommodate their needs. The shuttle even makes 10 church stops on Sundays!

All together

This year’s leisure life theme at Brightondale Senior Campus is “We got game — Looking forward to the 2015 winning season!” Activities follow a sports theme, from hockey to baseball, tennis to badminton, and everything in between. There will be teamwork, friendly competition and fun for all!

In addition to the theme-related fun, Brightondale offers a variety of programs that enhance all areas of life: from improving physical health to making social connections and from expressing spirituality to staying mentally active. Their passion is to provide programming that interests the community.

Deb Tschida is thrilled to be joining the team at Brightondale as campus director. Deb started her career working with seniors over 30 years ago as a home health aide, and has worked in home care, long-term care and senior housing in a variety of roles including executive director, sales and marketing, and operations management. Deb has an associate degree in physical therapy. She and her family reside in Columbia Heights.

Making it home

Does the family dog want to come? Or the cat? If your pet weighs under 36 pounds, you can bring it along. The philosophy at Brightondale is “Residents First.” The helpful, experienced staff knows every resident’s name, interests and preferences. They love their work and are there to make the residents’ lives richer. Programs abound on the campus, too: educational speakers, musical entertainment, and, for any level, “Music Makers,” a kazoo band!

The options and teamwork at Brightondale all add up to a wide range of social opportunities that encourage lasting friendships.
