When Ken Walsh's wife LuAnne first accompanied him to a national wheelchair competition a few years ago, she was nervous for her husband's safety. After witnessing Ken compete, she realized there wasn't that much to worry about in terms of him getting hurt. Now, with a number of competitions under her belt, LuAnne's biggest concern is Ken's disappointment in the event that he doesn't perform up to his standards.

The standings might look a little goofy with teams not being able to complete the entire regular season because of a number of weather issues but none of that really matters to the eight teams competing in this week's Fourth District playoff tournament. What matters this week is winning enough games to claim the district's post-season championship and the berth in the state tournament next week in Hibbing that goes with it.

As the fourth seed in the state tournament last week, the Mounds View girls lacrosse team faced some pretty big odds in its quest for a championship. The Mustangs' opening round opponent was defending state champion Eden Prairie and if they managed to pull off the upset their finals opponent would have been last year's state runner-up Blake.

In its ninth consecutive appearance, the Mounds View High School boys tennis team took sixth last week at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. The Mustangs lost its quarterfinal match, won a consolation semifinal and fell in the consolation championship.
