Kaposia Days 2015 marks 40th year celebration

Princess Kaitlyn Crowe, Queen Meg Simon and Princess Mollie Ray (left to right) are the newly crowned South St. Paul royalty.

This year marked the 40th celebration of Kaposia Days in South St. Paul and folks enjoyed many of the same events that took place at the first celebration in 1976 — including street dances, parades and fireworks. In addition to the traditional, planners of Kaposia Days added a few new activities, the most notable of which being the all-week Medallion Hunt, by which participants used clues to search for a medallion the size of a hockey puck hidden somewhere in the city. Kaposia Days, in the spirit of its namesake, the Kaposia tribe of Mdewakanton Sioux, succeeded once again in bringing the community together for a weekend of summer activities and family-friendly fun.  (Linda E.
