Appeals court sides with developer in Lowry Grove ownership battle


The verdict is in from the Minnesota Court of Appeals regarding the contested sale of the Lowry Grove property to The Village, LLC. The court ruled in favor of The Village and the manufactured housing community in St. Anthony Village is set to close June 30.

Residents of the Lowry Grove manufactured housing community in St. Anthony Village are fighting a legal battle to protect their homes from demolition and the land they live on from redevelopment.

Woman charged in crash that killed two teens in Arden Hills

New Brighton seminary gets approval to rent out space for K-8 school


United Theological Seminary in New Brighton has received permission from the city to lease space out to be used as a K-8 school, though as of yet UTS does not have a tenant.

Seminary campuses are typically home to calm, studious adults working towards a master’s of divinity — many aiming to become church leaders.

Running is New Brighton man’s key to North Korea


Lowell Thompson, 78, now back at his New Brighton home from his trip to North Korea, holds a memento from his time in the isolated East Asian country: the shirt he was given to race in.

Thompson, a sprinter, found himself running a 10K race in North Korea in early April. Here, he stands before thousands of North Korean spectators at a Pyongyang stadium.

One way to get to North Korea is to simply run there. Recently, that’s what a New Brighton man did to unlock the doors to one of the most inaccessible countries in the world.

Roseville writing group for women in prison leads to new book


Joan Moses compiled and edited stories written by the women she works with at Residential Re-Entry Center of Roseville and published them in a book called “Breaking the Cycle, Writings from Women in Prison.” Sitting at her dining room table in her New Brighton home, she reads an excerpt.

Every Wednesday evening, a group of women gather in Roseville to write. This is a different kind of writers’ group, though, one in which grammar, spelling, structure and even coherency aren’t the main focus.

Officers responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment in New Brighton arrived to find a man strangling another man April 14.
