RAHS trio qualifies for state wrestling tourney

Three members of the Roseville Area High School wrestling team will close out their seasons by competing at the state wrestling tournament this weekend. All are juniors and each qualified for state by finishing second in their respective weight classes at the Section 4AAA meet on Saturday.
December Htoo, Tyler Graham and Isaac Schmaedeke will represent their team and school on Friday and maybe Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center.

Wrestling: Tartan gains ‘State’ with Section 4AAA grappling title

In the Section 4AAA wrestling matches, held at Woodbury High School Feb. 15, the Tartan High School Titans went into the day as underdogs.
As the mats were being rolled up and the Titans were boarding the bus to head home, they had spent the day living up to their name and were riding high as the 2014 Section 4AAA champions.
For only the second time in the history of the Oakdale institution, Tartan was heading to the Minnesota State Class AAA Wrestling Tournament as a section champion.

The biggest day outside of the state tournament is approaching for the three Bulletin-area high school wrestling teams. They will converge on Champlin Park High School on Saturday for the Section 5AAA individual tournament.

RAHS wrestlers fall in section team tournament

The Roseville Area High School wrestling team opened the post-season on Saturday in the Section 4AAA team tournament. The Raiders were the fifth seed and lost 61-12 to fourth-seeded Stillwater in the quarterfinals.
Roseville finishes the season with a dual record of 11-14. Among the highlights were Suburban East Conference victories over Cretin-Derham Hall and East Ridge. The Raiders also beat all six teams it faced from the St. Paul City Conference and picked up wins over Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village, Brooklyn Center/Concordia Academy and North St. Paul.

The North Polars ventured into enemy territory at Tartan for a Classic Suburban Conference wrestling match Jan. 15 and saw the Tartan grapplers dominate their efforts in a 72-0 blitz.
“We met our expectations,” offered Tartan head coach Dan Recchio. “This win gives us second place in the conference behind, who else, Simley. We expected this outcome.”
The Titans have their eyes on their next goal, Recchio explained.

RAHS wrestling gunning for big turnaround

A few years ago the Roseville Area High School wrestling team found itself with a senior-heavy lineup, which helped the team finish above .500. The problem with that situation is that it left the Raiders with a thin senior class last year, when they won just three dual meets.
Head coach Mike Holmes and his staff have retooled the roster and are shooting for a quick turnaround.

Wrestling: Tartan returning to wrestling battles with veteran squad

The Tartan Titans wrestling team is expected to challenge perennial-favorite Simley for the Classic Suburban Conference title this season.
Simley, which has a long tradition of sending wrestlers to the state tournament, is the defending CSC champion.
