Boys’ hockey: Hill-Murray advances in Section Class 4 AA — gains “State”

The Hill-Murray Pioneers took another step closer to their 26th appearance in the Minnesota State Class AA boys’ hockey tournament when they defeated the Stillwater Ponies 6-2, in a game played Feb. 26, at the Minnesota State Fair Coliseum.

The Hill-Murray Pioneers — playing in Section 4AAA girls basketball — moved into semi final play March 2, against the Como Park Cougars in a game played at Washington High School in St. Paul.

Girls’ basketball:  Tartan tops Cretin-Derham Hall in opening round of Section 4AAAA

The Tartan Titans hosted Cretin-Derham Hall in the opening round of the girls’ Section 4AAAA basketball playoffs Feb. 27. With the hosts entering the contest ranked fourth and the guests fifth, it was, as might be expected, a tight, well played contest. Tartan ended the Raiders’ season with a hard-won 69-65 victory to take their 17-9 record on in the playoffs. The Raiders’ season came to a close with a record of 8-18.

Girls hockey: Pioneers survive opening round of state tourney

The Hill-Murray Pioneers entered the 2013 Minnesota State High School girls’ hockey tournament for the second time with high hopes.
