Mounds View girls headed to state Alpine meet

The Mounds View High School girls Alpine ski team is headed to the state meet this week after finishing second in the Section 7 meet on Feb. 4 at Giants Ridge. Front row, from left: Emily Mackay, Maddie Sjobeck, coach Mark Dunsworth, Cortney Kosiak, Juliana Damberg, Emily Nash, Kurt Tolson, Kaarl Damberg, assistant coach Luke Becker. Finishing second usually means coming up just shy of your goal. That wasn’t the case for the Mounds View High School girls Alpine ski team last week at the section meet, however.
The Mustangs ended up second in the team standings at the Section 7 meet but that won’t keep them from competing in this week’s state meet. There are only four sections for Alpine skiing and the top two teams in each section advance to state.

Knights, Mustangs meet again in the post-season

When Irondale and Mounds View square off in their girls hockey section playoff game on Tuesday, expect the Knights to win a low-scoring game. Or it might be the Mustangs securing the victory in overtime.
The only thing the above predictions are based on is past history. The last four times Irondale and Mounds View met in the playoffs, that’s how the games ended.
