Fall Book Sale

The Friends of the Wentworth Library is hosting its fall book sale at Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul.  The sale is a week earlier this year, so please mark your calendars.  Thousands of books, magazines, audio books, DVD’s, CD’s and VHS tapes will be available. Friends members may take advantage of the preview sale Sept. 26, from 3 to 5 pm. You can join at the preview sale with a $10 membership good through December 2020. The public sale begins Sept. 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 28, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a $5 bag sale on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Added for this sale on Sept. 29 is a $2 bag sale from 1 to 3 p.m.


Nature Trivia

Test your knowledge of plants, animals, geology, and other intriguing aspects of nature during Dodge’s Nature Trivia game. Compete by yourself or in a team of up to six people. There will be ten rounds with six questions per round. Top scores will win a congratulatory certificate and bragging rights. Enjoy a glass of wine or beer at the end during our award ceremony. This event on Sept. 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. is for adults 21 and up. It will take place at Dodge’s Farm Entrance 3, 1701 Charlton St., West. St. Paul. The cost is $20. Warrior 5K

The 10th annual Warrior 5K Walk/Run and Family Mile will take place Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. at Henry Sibley High School, 1897 Delaware Ave., Mendota Heights. This is a community-wide event, and all proceeds support the I.S.D. 197 Educational Foundation. Race and sponsorship forms can be found at The cost is $25 for race day registration, which begins at 8 a.m. The race will be held on the new track. 


Tubby Esquire

Hear the polka, pop, rock, and country sounds of Tubby Esquire. Sponsored by the Friends of the Inver Glen Library, this will run from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave.



Stop by Thompson Park, 360 Butler Ave. E., West St. Paul Sept. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for WiggleFest, a family and dog friendly community event presented by the Minnesota Boxer Rescue & Partners. There will be demonstrations, games, vendors, food trucks, silent auction, raffles, fundraising charity walk, merchandise sales and giveaways. Minnesota Boxer Rescue will be there along with other partner rescues and vendors. There will be a few demonstrations, which will include one from the West St. Paul K-9 Unit. Join the day of festivities, which will take place rain or shine.


Vaping: a high school epidemic

The West St. Paul Police Department, School District 197, and Dakota County Attorney’s Office invite school staff, law enforcement, health professionals, and others who work with youth to attend this educational forum, which will provide educational and preventive measures to address the use of e-cigarettes among our youth. Doors open with resources available at 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road W., Suite 170, in West St. Paul. 


SSP Police explorer program

Medicare update

From 1 to 2 p.m., Sept. 24, learn about recent changes to Medicare benefits and coverage and how they affect you. Discover the importance of reviewing Medicare Part D coverage during the annual Open Enrollment Period, how to use, the impact of the Affordable Care Act, the new 5-star plans, and Extra Help — a program that may reduce prescription drug costs for people with lower incomes. Presented by the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, this will take place at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave.


It’s Showtime

Showtime is a group of northwest Minneapolis metro seniors who bring musical entertainment to the contemporaries through song, dance, and humor.  They sing music ranging all the way from Tin Pan Alley, Disney, gospel, and folk to sacred and show tunes.  Register by Sept. 24, for this event on Oct. 2 from 1 to 2 p.m. Taking place at Thompson Park Activity Center, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul, the cost is $7. Food truck

Join the South St. Paul business leaders and community members at Bridgepoint Business Association summer food truck event. On Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be Brick Oven Bus, Up in Smoke and Egg Roll Queen food trucks at Bridgepoint Business Park, 150 Hardman Drive.


Apple party

Celebrate fall’s favorite fruit through activity stations featuring simple science experiments, learning games, and crafts. Open to kids ages 2 to 6, registration is required for this event on Sept. 25 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. Call 651-554-3240 for more information.
