Seed collections

The St. Paul Natural Resource team is putting on their annual Seed Squad collection events. Each event will be led by staff or skilled volunteers and all the tools needed will be provided. The staff will be able to explain the seed collecting process and assist in identifying plants. Individuals or small groups of all ages are welcome to sign up, but the events may be best suited for ages 10 and up. Volunteers will harvest native seeds from some of the city’s highest quality natural areas. The collected seeds will later be sown and/or propagated and planted to increase diversity for wildlife and pollinators. These volunteer events are drop-in style so volunteers can come and go as their schedules allow.

Upcoming seed collection times include:

- Sept. 19, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Como Woodland Outdoor Classroom, 1151 Wynne Ave.

- Sept. 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Trout Brook Nature Sanctuary, 1200 Jackson St.

- Oct. 5, 9 to 11 a.m., Trout Brook Nature Sanctuary, 1200 Jackson St.
