Women arrested in connection with fatal Sims Avenue shooting

St. Paul Police are investigating what led to a deadly shooting in the 1000 block of Sims Avenue the morning of Aug. 19. 

According to police, officers were dispatched to the area around 10:30 a.m. on a report that someone was shot. A woman had called requesting an ambulance and hung up. An additional caller told dispatch that someone had been shot and a woman could be heard screaming in the background. 

When police arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound to his chest in a bedroom at a residence. He was later identified as Randy Malloyd Davis Jr., a 20-year-old from North St. Paul. He was brought to Regions Hospital and died later that day from his injuries. 

That evening police arrested a 20-year-old Minneapolis woman on suspicion of murder in connection to the shooting and for an unrelated Hennepin County warrant for recieving stolen property.

Police said the incident is still under investigation and charges against the woman are pending.

This was the 14th homicide in St. Paul this year.
