Cheryl Peterson

Cheryl Peterson of South St. Paul, was named a 50 Over 50 honoree by AARP Minnesota and Pollen. At 55, she’s the executive director of Listening House, a St. Paul homeless shelter. The shelter provide a number of services and programs for those experiencing homelessness. All are welcome, which is one reason Listening House has been dubbed the “living room of the homeless.” In addition to her on-the-job responsibilities, Peterson is an advocate for social and racial justice.

The 2019 50 Over 50 honorees are 50 Minnesota leaders over 50 years of age who are writing their own rules about aging. These individuals are making an impact in many ways — driving the engines of opportunity in the business world, creating art and helping others do the same, affecting change in their communities, and finding new ways to upend the status quo.
