Rideshare education training

Dakota County Transportation employees are coming back to TPAC, 1200 Stassen Lane, West St. Paul, in order to help people download the Uber and Lyft apps and get Uber/Lyft accounts set up.  Please bring your phone and be ready to work with these knowledgeable tech people to finish this final step. Register by Aug. 5 for the session on Aug. 12 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $3, and register by calling 651-403-8300.




Mixed media painting

Experiment with different kinds of painting, drawing and collage materials to make a unique, colorful and fun portrait of your favorite pet or animal. Presented by Artistry, registration is required for this session Aug. 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Inver Glen Library, 8098 Blaine Ave.


Kamishibai workshop

Before Manga and Anime, there was Kamishibai.  From 10:30 a.m. to noon, learn how to illustrate and tell a story using Japanese story cards. Open to kids ages 8 to 14, this will take place Aug. 7 at the South St. Paul Library, 106 Third Ave. N.


Family law clinic

Receive a free 30-minute consultation from a volunteer attorney regarding Family Law matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, paternity issues, spousal maintenance, and domestic abuse. This clinic is a joint program of Legal Assistance of Dakota County, the Dakota County Family Court, and the Dakota County Law Library. Call 952-891-7241 to schedule an appointment, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m., Aug. 7 at the West St. Paul Library, 199 Wentworth Ave. E.




The Goombas

Rock to the tunes of The Goombas band Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at Mendakota Park, 2171 Dodd Road, in Mendota Heights. 

Friday Float-In Movie

From 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Aug. 9, turn an ordinary cardboard box into a boat and enjoy a short animated movie. This is for kids ages 2 to 5.


Movie in 

the Park

Bring the family, friends, and neighbors to Southview Park for a free showing of the Disney classic, “The Mighty Ducks.” Don’t forget blankets, chairs, and insect repellent. Concession snacks will be available for purchase. The movie will be shown Aug. 9 at Southview Park, 275 Westview Dr., West St. Paul, from 9 to 11 p.m.


Fish fry

Clark-Grace Church is having fourth Annual Fish Fry on Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 779 15th Ave N, South St. Paul. There will be fresh water fish, tilapia and cod. Sides include coleslaw and spaghetti. The cost is $12.00 per dinner. For more information call Rose at 651-228-0687.


Bogey with the Red and Blue

Due to inclement weather on the original date, this event is rescheduled for Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. The cost is $15 per participant. Join the MH Police and Fire Departments for a recreational round of golf at the Par 3. Meet and mingle with officers and firefighters who serve your neighborhood. Groups are welcome to register together, and groups/participants without foursomes may be paired with others for play. All ages are welcome. Participants receive a T-shirt and light refreshments will be provided. Register at under Par 3 Programs.


Host family for exchange student

The SSP/IGH Rotary Club is searching for host families for its exchange student, Daniela (Danny) Vargas Mendoza who will be arriving in mid to late August and will be attending Simley High School. Families are needed for a period of approximately four months, providing a bedroom and meals. Danny’s interests include theater, speech, debate, some sports.
