LETTER: Many years of service culminate in county board run

To the Editor:

Following the announcement of a special election for the open Ramsey County District 1 Commissioner seat, I received phone calls from people I served with encouraging me to run and decided to enter the race.

I have been serving this community for the last 21 years in a variety of roles, including on the Vadnais Lakes Water Management Organization’s board, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s joint powers commission, as chairman of the Lake Johanna Fire Department, as well as cable commissioner and planning commission liaison in North Oaks. I have been serving North Oaks and District 1 since 1997.

I am dedicated to bringing key issues to the table to be solved, not just discussed. Current issues facing the commissioners include the redevelopment of the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant site, affordable housing options in Ramsey County and communication between the board and the rest of the county.

When asked why I am running, I responded: “In thinking about the opportunity to represent the community of District 1, I received a number of calls from people I respect and have served with that suggested I consider the role. The district is facing such important issues that require experienced leadership and the ability to work with a variety of city leaders.”
