Stuart Scamehorn, a recent graduate of St. Anthony Village High School, was one of 25 Eagle Scouts selected by Northern Star Scouting to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The council awards 20 to 35 scholarships annually to candidates who have demonstrated outstanding troop leadership, scholastic achievement and strong citizenship. Since the program began in 1990, more than $500,000 has been distributed.

Scamehorn earned his Eagle Scout rank as a member of Troop 106, chartered by Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton, where he served in many troop leadership positions.

His scouting highlights include visits to all three Boy Scouts of America high-adventure bases and the national jamboree, a gathering of thousands of Scouts from across the U.S. He also worked on the camp staff at Tomahawk Scout Reservation near Birchwood, Wisconsin.

Scamehorn plans to attend the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, where he intends to study computer science.
